Heather Marlin
Photo taker, memory maker, I see myself as an eclectic jack of all trades. A kind, funny, entertaining, coffee addicted odd ball, I have always loved nature, the arts, good food, and great company. I grew up in Cincinnati, attended The School for Creative and Performing Arts and continued on to The Ohio State University. My path shifted from the arts towards the restaurant industry, which led to a decade of management. My journey in life has been a long and winding path. Like many people, after becoming a parent, I had a clearer vision for my future.
While I spent my entire life interested in photography I never truly immersed myself in it until my son was born. At that point I reflected on the major moments in my life. For the ones documented in print, some were good, some were great, and others just plain terrible. I also thought about all of the missed opportunities. Fueled by remarkably inspiring photographers and overlooked forgotten memories, I decided from then on I would try to capture as many special moments as I could.
I know I am in love with a photograph when my heart stops for just a moment. the emotion and dynamics capture my attention first then my eyes quickly dart to every corner, nook, and cranny of the image. Having your loved one as the subject in that photo is even more precious. I want to give that feeling to every one of my clients. My goal is to give you an image that takes your breath away. Knowing that I have given someone something that will evoke power feeling for years to come is the reason I do what I do.
I feel that being a talented photographer is more than just your equipment or your photography knowledge. It is also attitude. Being passionate, driven, fun, and engaging brings an added dimension to my work.
I would love the opportunity to meet you and your family. I promise to give you an experience you will cherish for years to come. Are you worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera? Don’t be! I have been in for shoes and so I also know what it takes to make a session go smoothly. Trust me…we will have fun! If you have questions about the process or simply want to know more about what I do, feel free to reach out!

I am passionate about ongoing education. I have made it a personal goal to learn something new about my craft every single day! Last year I participated in a four month mentoring program with a talented local Columbus photographer. With his guidance I created a series of images "Magnification of the Imagination". This experience not only got my creative juices flowing but greatly improved my post processing skills. I am eager to take on more projects in the future. The sky is the limit!
